What's New at NEFE

NEFE has been working hard over the past twelve months to match the Family Consumer Science spirit of innovation.

In the past year we have launched a variety of new resources as well as released research related to youth financial decisions. Some of the highlights include:

On-line Courses for Adults

Smart About Money now offers self-paced financial education courses for adults, including five money basics topics as well as courses geared towards specific financial decisions.

The newly revised Your Spending, Your Savings, Your Future: A Beginner’s Guide to Financial Readiness aims to help you get on track with your financial goals and make a better life for yourself and your family. Download the free PDF to get practical tips, hands-on worksheets and real-life stories from people who have been there themselves.

SAM's interactive Budget Wizard walks consumers through the process of creating a thorough spending plan that they can adjust and update as their circumstances change.

Improved Experience for College Students

CashCourse was completely overhauled in June 2017. Take a video tour of CashCourse to learn about the free tools and resources for college students and for educators.

New Youth-Related Research

NEFE-funded research recently released findings from two studies out of George Washington University regarding young adults and their money.

The Financial Capability among Young Adults study found that when it comes to personal finance, millennials are overconfident and underprepared.

The Enhancing Retirement Savings with School-Based Financial Education report found that low financial literacy and low rates of income replacement in retirement puts American teens at a unique risk to struggle later in life.
